Softball Game Preview: Greenfield/Northwestern Tigers vs. New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly Vipers

Greenfield/Northwestern and New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Tigers will head out to face off against the Vipers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Greenfield/Northwestern has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Greenfield/Northwestern's last matchup with Carlinville could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Wednesday. The Tigers lost 12-1 to the Cavaliers. The Tigers have struggled against the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly made easy work of Nokomis on Wednesday and carried off a 12-6 win. Considering the Vipers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly's victory bumped their record up to 5-18. As for Greenfield/Northwestern, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14-1.

Greenfield/Northwestern took their win against New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 21-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
