Softball Game Preview: Madison Central Indians vs. Harrison County Thorobreds/Fillies

The Madison Central Indians will take on the Harrison County Thorobreds/Fillies at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Madison Central's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when West Washington hitters got past them. The Indians narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Senators 11-10. With that victory, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Madison Central got a great performance from Sydney Smith as she tossed six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Smith has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Devan Stewart, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Lindsey Colegrove, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Harrison County made easy work of Eastern on Saturday and carried off a 10-2 win. Considering the Thorobreds/Fillies have won 22 contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Madison Central's victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Harrison County, their win bumped their record up to 28-5.
