Baseball Recap: Mainland Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mainland can now relate to. They lost 8-2 to the Matanzas Pirates on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Mainland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeremiah Peach, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Mainland has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Matanzas, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-14.

Mainland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Matanzas, they will face off against Seabreeze at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sandcrabs have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
