Basketball Game Preview: Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs vs. Otis-Bison Cougars

The Sylvan-Lucas Mustangs will square off against the Otis-Bison Cougars on Friday. Sylvan-Lucas will be strutting in after a win while Otis-Bison will be coming in after a defeat.

Sylvan-Lucas will bounce into Friday's game after beating Osborne, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Sylvan-Lucas walked away with a 58-51 victory over Osborne on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.

Meanwhile, Otis-Bison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 44-26 fall against Dighton. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Hornets are ranked 139th).

Sylvan-Lucas is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points per game. As for Otis-Bison, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Sylvan-Lucas strolled past Otis-Bison in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 57-42. Will Sylvan-Lucas repeat their success, or does Otis-Bison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
