While Garces Memorial didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Shafter Generals on Wednesday. With that win, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Serenity Ward spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Garces Memorial got a massive performance out of Brooklyn Castro, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Those hits were Castro's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Reese Bowles, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4.

Garces Memorial's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Shafter, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 7-3-1 record.

Garces Memorial will have a chance to go back-to-back against Shafter: the pair will be back at it again later today.
