Softball Recap: Houston Christian Drops Highest Score of Season Against Emery/Weiner

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Houston Christian). They put the hurt on Emery/Weiner with a sharp 18-2 win on Friday. Considering the Mustangs have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Estrada made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Maddie Pickett was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Emmy Koehler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Houston Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Houston Christian now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Emery/Weiner, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Houston Christian will take on St. John's at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give Houston Christian their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Emery/Weiner, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Francis Episcopal at 4:30 p.m. on April 10.
