Preview: Bulloch Academy Gators vs. Pinewood Christian Patriots
The Bulloch Academy Gators will head out on the road to face off against the Pinewood Christian Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bulloch Academy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Bulloch Academy can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They blew past St. Andrew's 42-7 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-0.
Danye Garvin was on fire: he rushed for 172 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Garvin was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Ben Aaron was another major influence, as he rushed for 85 yards and ran in a TD.
Meanwhile, Pinewood Christian pushed their score all the way to 49 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Frederica Academy 54-49. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two weeks ago (35), Pinewood Christian still had to take the loss.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Banks Booth, who threw for 388 yards and five touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown. Walker Todd also helped out as he racked up 192 receiving yards.
Bulloch Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Augusta Prep Day and 1-8 Thomas Jefferson Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 27.3% over those games). As for Pinewood Christian, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Bulloch Academy couldn't quite finish off Pinewood Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 and fell 36-34. Can Bulloch Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
