Softball Recap: Glendale Prep Academy Has No Trouble Against Wickenburg

Glendale Prep Academy's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Wickenburg Wranglers as the Glendale Prep Academy Griffins made off with a 9-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Griffins, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Raegan Rockey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Karin DeStefano and Ally Moore did most of the damage at the plate: DeStefano scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Moore scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave DeStefano a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Whipple, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2.

Glendale Prep Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Wickenburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glendale Prep Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Tonopah Valley at 1:00 p.m. on March 29th. As for Wickenburg, they will challenge Highland Prep West at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Highland Prep West has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 23 runs per game on average), something Wickenburg will no doubt try to take advantage of.
