Baseball Recap: Dover Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Dover hadn't done well against Pioneer-Pleasant Vale recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Longhorns came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 10-5. The win was nothing new for the Longhorns as they're now sitting on three straight.

Casen Buck and Bryce Cockayne made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Buck tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Cockayne struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Buck is becoming a predictor of Dover's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is undefeated (and 5-9 when he doesn't). At bat, Buck went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run, while Cockayne scored a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Buck has posted over his last seven matches.

In other batting news, Emanuel Barcenas was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

The victory got Dover back to even at 9-9. As for Pioneer-Pleasant Vale, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dover will venture away from home to face off against Lookeba-Sickles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pioneer-Pleasant Vale, they will head out to challenge Fairview at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Yellowjackets have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
