Basketball Recap: Willmar Comes Up Short

Willmar lost against Brainerd back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Willmar Cardinals lost to the Brainerd Warriors at home by a 71-56 margin. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Warriors are ranked 37th).

Willmar's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Brainerd, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Willmar has already played their next matchup (against Sauk Rapids-Rice), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Brainerd will face off against Grand Rapids at 1:00 p.m. on February 1st.
