Recap: Springport Spartans vs. Concord Yellowjackets

The Springport Spartans suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They were dealt a 79-44 defeat at the hands of Concord. Springport has not had much luck with Concord recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Springport's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braydon Hawes, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Rainey, who scored six points along with five rebounds.

Mekhi Wingfield continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Concord, shooting 5-for-10 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 34 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Wingfield has scored at least a third of Concord's points. Another player making a difference was Jett Smith, who scored 20 points along with two steals.

Springport's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Concord, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Springport will look to defend their home court on Friday against Quincy at 7:00 p.m. Quincy is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Concord, they will take on Union City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Union City is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.2 points per game.
