Baseball Recap: Alexander Central Wins Going Away Against Hibriten

Alexander Central barely beat Hibriten the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Alexander Central was the clear victor by a 13-1 margin over Hibriten on Friday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Dillion Church tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Alexander Central's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

Chapman-Mays has become a key player for Alexander Central: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Graham Hoke, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Alexander Central now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Hibriten, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.

Alexander Central is facing Freedom at the right time seeing as Freedom is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Hibriten, they will square off against South Caldwell at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Caldwell will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Hibriten surely won't give up without a fight.
