Basketball Game Preview: Sunnyslope Vikings vs. Shadow Ridge Stallions

Two dominant guards in Teagan McIlroy and Danica Lindemann are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Sunnyslope Vikings will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Shadow Ridge Stallions at 7:00 p.m. Sunnyslope is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Sunnyslope is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Snow Canyon, who was ranked fourth in their home state at the time (Sunnyslope was ranked 17th). Sunnyslope was beaten by Snow Canyon 74-46 last Saturday.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Amelia Mickelson, who posted nine points. Shannon McIlroy was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Shadow Ridge's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Skyline by a score of 44-42.

Shadow Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Sunnyslope, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Sunnyslope barely slipped by Shadow Ridge in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, winning 33-32. Does Sunnyslope have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shadow Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
