Basketball Game Preview: Prestonwood Christian Lions vs. John Paul II Cardinals

Last Saturday, Prestonwood Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Bishop Lynch and fell 45-42. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 348th, while the Friars are ranked 146th).

Meanwhile, John Paul II came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They beat the Blue Angels by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 75-66.

John Paul II's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-12. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.3 points per game. As for Prestonwood Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-12 record this season.

Prestonwood Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their game against John Paul II when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 66-61 victory.
