Midway has won nine straight games at home (dating back to last season), while North Lenoir has won nine straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Raiders will host the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Midway was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Fairmont on Tuesday. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Golden Tornadoes. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Golden Tornadoes: they've now won four in a row.

Tanner Williams made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Williams was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Midway is undefeated when Williams posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, Wyatt Scott was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Carson Tew was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.
Midway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, North Lenoir never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against James Kenan as they made off with a 17-0 victory.
The team relied heavily on Jayden Miller, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Ethan Smith, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
North Lenoir's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Midway, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Midway came out on top in a nail-biter against North Lenoir in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 8-7. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
