Basketball Preview: Runge Yellowjackets vs. Austwell-Tivoli Redfish
Runge is 7-1 against the Redfish since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Runge Yellowjackets will head out on the road to challenge the Austwell-Tivoli Redfish at 7:20 p.m. Runge comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Friday, Runge had to suffer through a rough 72-25 loss at the hands of the Eagles. Runge was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-16.
Austwell-Tivoli proved they can win big back in December of 2023 (they won by 29) but two weeks ago they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Pettus 56-54. The win made it back-to-back wins for Austwell-Tivoli.
Runge dropped their record down to 0-11 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Austwell-Tivoli, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.
Runge was dealt a bruising 82-34 defeat at the hands of the Redfish when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Runge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
