Baseball Recap: Providence Has No Trouble Against Lanesville

Providence came out on top against Lanesville on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run seventh inning. The Pioneers blew past the Eagles 11-4. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cooper Nash looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

At the plate, Gavin Jackson was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 5-for-6. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Parker Pennington was another key player, earning two runs and one stolen base.

Providence is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Lanesville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11.

Providence and Lanesville are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Pioneers will face off against Eastern at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Musketeers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.65 runs per game on average), something Providence will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lanesville, they will square off against Rock Creek Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
