Softball Recap: Indian Creek's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Indian Creek dropped their record down to 14-4 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell 6-3 to the Whiteland Warriors. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Indian Creek saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kristen Soots, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Whiteland, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.

On Whiteland's side, Jordyn Crouch made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Crouch has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Kyrstin Farr was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kaelyn Putnam, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Indian Creek has already played their next contest, a 4-0 victory against Columbus East on the 20th. As for Whiteland, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-2 defeat against Franklin Community on the 17th.
