Basketball Recap: Bishop Kenny's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

If Bishop Kenny was riding high fresh off their 67-21 takedown of Godby on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The game between the Crusaders and the Cardinal Mooney Cougars didn't end well, with the Crusaders falling 72-53. The loss put an end to the Crusaders' undefeated start to the season.

When it comes to explaining why Bishop Kenny lost on Monday, don't look at Kathleen Crawley. Despite the final result, she shot 54% from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and seven rebounds. Crawley is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Amaya Canady was another key player, putting up nine points.

Cardinal Mooney's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayla Griffin, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Watts, who went 7-for-14 on her way to 20 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Bishop Kenny fell to 2-1.

Coming up, Bishop Kenny will square off against Dillard at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Crusaders will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Cardinal Mooney, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 53-50 loss against Somerset Academy - Canyons on the 25th.
