Football Recap: Navasota Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Navasota was feeling good fresh off their 49-7 takedown of Brazosport last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rattlers were beaten by the Almeta Crawford Chargers 51-14 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Rattlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Chargers are ranked 79th).

When it comes to explaining why Navasota lost, don't look at Daquan Pratt. Despite the final result, he picked up 134 receiving yards and one score. Pratt really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 73 yards.

Navasota didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off six passes before the game was over. Pratt led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Another thorn in Almeta Crawford's side was Jamarious Thomas, who picked up four sacks, made 60 total tackles (14.0 for loss), and defended three passes.

Almeta Crawford's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braylen Fisher, who threw for 341 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground. Another player making a difference was Alvin Mosley, who picked up 117 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Navasota's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Almeta Crawford, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Navasota has already played their next contest, a 56-12 win against North Forest on the 13th. As for Almeta Crawford, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 50-7 loss against Worthing on the 14th.
