Basketball Recap: Carolina M Mustangs vs. Crossroads Christian Colts
After flying high against the Cristo Rey Research Triangle Bulls last Tuesday, the Carolina M Mustangs came back down to earth. Carolina M ended up on the wrong side of a rough 60-37 walloping at the hands of the Colts on Friday. Carolina M was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-8.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eliana Mah, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Evie Mericle was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
Elyssa Phillps was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with seven steals for Crossroads Christian. Phillps has been hot recently, having posted 20 or more points the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Laci Wade, who scored 15 points.
Carolina M's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Crossroads Christian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Carolina M will be playing at home against the Gnomes at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Emerson Waldorf is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Crossroads Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
