Baseball Recap: Gaffney Gets the Win

Gaffney posted their closest victory since April 12, 2024 on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wade Hampton Generals, sneaking past 5-3. While the Indians didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ethan Harvey looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Gaffney's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Carson Bailey, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Bailey a new career-high. Brody Bright also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Gaffney pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

They will have a chance to go back-to-back against Wade Hampton: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
