Recap: Iola Mustangs vs. Wellsville Eagles
The Iola Mustangs suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Wellsville 73-46. While losing is never fun, Iola can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Wellsville is ranked 35th).
Despite the loss, Iola still got an impressive performance from Cortland Carson, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Dougherty, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Iola's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Wellsville, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Iola will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Paul at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Paul is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Wellsville, they will head out on the road to take on Baldwin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
