Basketball Recap: University Comes Up Short

University was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Waco Lions, falling 60-36. The Trojans were down 51-25 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Waco found their leader in sophomore Aaziyah Degrate, who went 15 for 17 on her way to 33 points and six steals. Those 33 points gave Degrate a new career-high. Tesharme Bell was another key player, putting up seven points.

University's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Waco, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 8-15.

University didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-36 defeat against Lake Belton on the 17th. Waco has also already played their next game, a 57-50 loss against Belton on the 17th.
