Softball Recap: Carlin Beats Laughlin for Their Second Straight Win

While Carlin's victory against Laughlin wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Carlin Railroaders beat the Laughlin Cougars on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 18-16. The Railroaders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougars, too.

Carlin let Adian Adams and Mariah Ramirez run wild. Adams fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-2, while Ramirez scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Ramirez a new career-high in doubles (three). Joey Drown was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Carlin and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Laughlin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carlin will take on Wells at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Laughlin, they will face off against Round Mountain at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
