Softball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Arcadia's Winning Streak

Arcadia dropped their record down to 10-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs, falling 16-9. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Melrose-Mindoro, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. The result was nothing new for Melrose-Mindoro, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Melrose-Mindoro's part, Emma Severson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Bella Rozek was a standout: she fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-5. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Zeman, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Arcadia will head out to challenge Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Melrose-Mindoro, they will square off against Independence/Gilmanton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
