Baseball Recap: Valmeyer Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Waterloo, Valmeyer was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lebanon Greyhounds a 5-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Greyhounds: they've now won seven in a row.

Landon Roy was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Valmeyer is undefeated when Roy posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ripken Voelker, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Valmeyer's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Lebanon, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Valmeyer will take on Valley Park at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Lebanon, they will face off against Marissa/Coulterville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
