Softball Recap: Vanlue Comes Up Short

Vanlue was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Liberty-Benton Eagles, falling 12-1. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Olivia Secord made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Vanlue's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Liberty-Benton, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Looking ahead, Vanlue will be playing at home against Leipsic at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Liberty-Benton, they will take on Bryan at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Bears have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
