Softball Recap: Cory-Rawson Takes a Loss

Cory-Rawson lost against North Baltimore back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Fighting Hornets fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 4-2.

Katelyn Duffman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Alexis Roth made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

Cory-Rawson's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-5. As for North Baltimore, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Cory-Rawson will square off against rival Elgin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, North Baltimore is set to challenge their familiar foe Waynesfield-Goshen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
