Softball Recap: Dexter's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Dexter dropped their record down to 3-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They came up short against the Saline Hornets, falling 16-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Dreadnaughts were not able to get on the board.

As for Saline, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games.

For Saline's part, Zosia Mazur and Abby Curtis were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Mazur pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Curtis struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At bat, Mazur went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base, while Curtis went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Sydney Hastings was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Ava Stripp was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Dexter is taking a road trip to face off against Pioneer at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Saline, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Chelsea at 4:00 p.m.
