Baseball Game Preview: St. Marys Bears vs. Riley County Falcons

The St. Marys Bears will square off against the Riley County Falcons on Monday. Riley County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Marys, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, St. Marys turned things around against St. Mary's Academy on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Crusaders.

Killian McCann made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. McCann was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Frankie Rutledge was excellent, earning one run and four stolen bases. Zach Cregut also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Riley County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 8-5 to Hiawatha.

Riley County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for St. Marys, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Everything went St. Marys' way against Riley County in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as St. Marys made off with a 13-5 win. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
