Softball Recap: Broad Run Wins Going Away Against John Champe

Broad Run not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 17-1). They put the hurt on the John Champe Knights with a sharp 17-5 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-5 on Tuesday.

Anna Weltens made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Riley Coffey was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Annabelle Widding was another key player, going 2-for-6 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Broad Run hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Broad Run now has a winning record of 10-9. As for John Champe, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

As of now, neither Broad Run nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
