Basketball Game Preview: Highland Bulldogs vs. Edwardsville Tigers

The Highland Bulldogs will take on the Edwardsville Tigers in a tournament on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Highland's tournament run continued when they took on O'Fallon on Monday. Highland fell to O'Fallon 53-47. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Edwardsville suffered their biggest defeat since December 26, 2024 on Monday. They lost 48-28 to Breese Central. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Cougars are ranked fourth).

Edwardsville's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Highland, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-13.

Highland didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Edwardsville in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 43-37 win.
