Volleyball Recap: Allison Do Key Part of Team Effort in Mustangs Win

Rodriguez's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the Vanden Vikings with a sharp 3-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

Rodriguez's got stronger as the match went on, holding Vanden to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-22, 25-20.

Rodriguez's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Allison Do led the charge by getting ten assists and two aces. Those ten assists gave Do a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Rodriguez was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces every time they've taken the court this season.

When it comes to explaining why Vanden lost, don't look at Iris Corral. Despite the final result, she had six digs and three aces. Corral is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

The victory got Rodriguez back to even at 6-6. As for Vanden, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-21 record this season.

Rodriguez wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Pioneer on the 22nd. As for Vanden, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Sacramento on the 22nd.
