Westlake dropped their record down to 19-14 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 8-1 to the Marina Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in March.
As for Marina, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-13. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by seven runs or more this season.
For Marina's part, Mia Valbuena spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. Valbuena has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Eva Mazzotti was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Ruiz, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
As of now, neither Westlake nor Marina have any future games scheduled.
