Baseball Recap: Brookfield Academy Has No Trouble Against Pius XI Catholic

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lake Country Lutheran, Brookfield Academy was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Pius XI Catholic Popes 10-3. This was payback for the Blue Knights, who suffered a 4-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Brookfield Academy got a great performance from Patrick Mahoney as he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Brookfield Academy let Noah Thompson and Nick Roth run wild. Thompson went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Roth went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave Roth a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Tracy, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.

Brookfield Academy's record is now 8-4. As for Pius XI Catholic, they dropped their record down to 3-12 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookfield Academy will take on Luther Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Knights are facing the Phoenix at the right time seeing as the Phoenix are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Pius XI Catholic, they will welcome Homestead at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
