Football Recap: Nate Eich Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Glenn

Savanna's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They secured a 22-18 W over the Glenn Eagles. This was payback for the Rebels, who suffered a 54-20 loss the last time these two teams met.

Savanna got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nate Eich out in front who rushed for 37 yards and one score, and also threw for 160 yards while completing 71.4% of his passes. That's the most passing yards Eich has posted since back in September of 2024. Bentley Cruz was another key rusher, rushing for 34 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Savanna didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jayden Mendoza and Xavier Valdovinos. Another thorn in Glenn's side was Chance Sagiao, who picked up two sacks, made four total tackles (3.0 for loss), and defended one pass.

The victory got Savanna back to even at 1-1. As for Glenn, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Savanna will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Santiago at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Glenn, they will host California Military Institute at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
