Recap: Lakewood Gators vs. Crestwood Knights
The Lakewood Gators pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Crestwood 62-56. Lakewood has struggled against Crestwood recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Lakewood saw an underclassman step up: Darius Spann scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Spann scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Javaire Moses, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Lakewood's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-13. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Crestwood, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-1.
Lakewood will look to defend their home court on Monday against Camden at 7:30 p.m. As for Crestwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Lake City at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 191st, while Crestwood is ranked 13th).
