Softball Game Preview: Keystone Wildcats vs. Medina Battling Bees

The Keystone Wildcats will challenge the Medina Battling Bees at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Keystone nor Medina posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Keystone is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Brunswick just ended the team's 12-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Wildcats haven't been shut out since back in April.

Keystone saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Armitage, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Strongsville hit Medina with a four-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Battling Bees fell 6-1 to the Mustangs. The contest marked the Battling Bees' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Katie Rubino made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Medina has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Keystone, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.

Medina's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Keystone has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Medina, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given Keystone's sizable advantage in that area, the Battling Bees will need to find a way to close that gap.
