Softball Game Preview: Piute Thunderbirds vs. Milford Tigers

The Piute Thunderbirds will face off against the Milford Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Piute has given up an average of 11.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Piute lost 17-2 to North Sevier on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their meetings with the Wolves: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, while Milford put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Pinnacle. The Tigers put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 14 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Miley Willden made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Willden was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaidyn McMullin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Paizlee Florence, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Milford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Piute's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Milford, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 16-8.
