Baseball Game Preview: Seymour Panthers vs. Olney Cubs

For the second straight game, Seymour will face off against Olney. The Panthers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Cubs at 5:00 p.m.

Seymour will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Olney on Tuesday. The Panthers blew past the Cubs 14-2. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Cubs: they've now won eight in a row.

Brayden Loyd made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 21 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Seymour let Jaxon Carrington and Colton McGough run wild. Carrington scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while McGough scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Carrington a new career-high in RBI (three). Aydin LaMel was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Olney is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-9-1. As for Seymour, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
