Football Recap: Pacific Skates Past Marshall with Ease

Pacific had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 52-point drubbing they dealt Marshall on Friday. The Pirates took their game with ease, bagging a 65-13 win over the Eagles. With the Pirates ahead 50-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Ryan Cooper had a dynamite game, throwing for 396 yards and six TDs while picking up 18.0 yards per attempt. Aiden Johnson was another key player, picking up 93 receiving yards and three scores.

Pacific's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Dj Foley, Leon Jones, and Samauri Thompson, who each picked up one sack apiece. Trevor Pettigrew got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Pacific's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Marshall, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pacific will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th. As for Marshall, they will venture away from home to face off against Heritage Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
