Softball Game Preview: Perrysburg Yellow Jackets vs. Anthony Wayne Generals

The Perrysburg Yellow Jackets will venture away from home to take on the Anthony Wayne Generals at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Perrysburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Perrysburg barely beat Bowling Green the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Yellow Jackets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bobcats a 15-0 shutout on Monday. The Yellow Jackets haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Maddie Von Sacken was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yesenia You, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sophie Halm, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Perrysburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Anthony Wayne beat Findlay 9-4 on Tuesday.

Perrysburg now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Anthony Wayne, their record now sits at 14-1.

Perrysburg came out on top in a nail-biter against Anthony Wayne in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Yellow Jackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Generals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
