Softball Recap: Eureka Loggers vs. South Fork Cubs
Eureka had lost five straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-13-1 to make it six. They came up short against the South Fork Cubs, falling 18-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cubs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-10 on Monday.
Eureka saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenze Wolff, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for South Fork, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
On South Fork's side, Hailey Shepherd was incredible, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. Molly Perkins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Eureka wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 10-6 loss against Fortuna on the 23rd. As for South Fork, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-2 defeat against Hoopa Valley on the 24th.
