Baseball Game Preview: The First Academy Royals vs. Timber Creek Wolves

The First Academy Royals will take on the Timber Creek Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (The First Academy 3.2, Timber Creek 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

The First Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Osceola get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Josh Garcia looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max Simmons, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Remo Indomenico, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

The First Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Osceola only posted an OBP of .176.

Meanwhile, Timber Creek fell victim to Spruce Creek and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Hawks, falling 8-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Wolves were not able to get on the board.

The First Academy's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Timber Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season.
