Basketball Recap: Ty Gibbs and Ford Deshazo Secure Win for Grace Christian Academy

Grace Christian Academy won the last time they faced Middle Tennessee Christian and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Grace Christian Academy Lions blew past the Middle Tennessee Christian Cougars 77-53. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Cougars are ranked 298th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Grace Christian Academy to victory were Ford Deshazo and Ty Gibbs. Deshazo went 9 for 11 en route to 19 points, while Gibbs went 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The game was Gibbs' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cutler Stephens, who posted ten points and eight boards.

Grace Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Middle Tennessee Christian, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-13.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Grace Christian Academy Lions face off against the Providence Christian Academy LIONS at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Providence Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 contests -- so hopefully Grace Christian Academy likes a good challenge. As for Middle Tennessee Christian, they will square off against Columbia Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
