Baseball Game Preview: Rockport-Fulton Pirates vs. London Pirates

Rockport-Fulton are taking a road trip to square off against London at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Rockport-Fulton earned a 4-1 victory over Ingleside. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Rockport-Fulton's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sean Howell, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, London entered their tilt with Orange Grove on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Bulldogs. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by exactly ten runs.

RJ Olivares made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Olivares was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Salinas, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Zachary Tyrone also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

London kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Rockport-Fulton's record is now 11-7-1. As for London, their record now sits at 18-6.

Rockport-Fulton suffered a grim 10-2 defeat to London in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Rockport-Fulton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
