Baseball Recap: Glendale Comes Up Short

Glendale extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They lost 16-2 to the West Branch Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in March.

Glendale saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Shaw, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for West Branch, their record now sits at 6-4. Considering they have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On West Branch's side, Logan Liptak was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Liptak a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Hansen Lannen was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Cale Mcdowell was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glendale will square off against North Star at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for West Branch, they will challenge Claysburg-Kimmel at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
