Recap: Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes vs. Stall Warriors
The Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes won the last time they faced the Stall Warriors, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Ashley Ridge secured a 58-52 W over Stall. Given Ashley Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Stall is ranked 238th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jahlil Hope, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last four times he's played. Clayton Everett was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dave-yon Nixon, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Nixon hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Downtez Evans, who scored 14 points.
Ashley Ridge's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-10. As for Stall, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-18.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashley Ridge's road trip will continue as they head out to face Fort Dorchester at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Fort Dorchester focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Tuesday. As for Stall, they will head out on the road to square off against West Ashley at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
