Baseball Recap: West Michigan Christian Drops Season-High Score on Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Michigan Christian). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy Dragons a 34-0 shutout on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Patriots considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Nick Wall made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wall was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since April 5th.

In other batting news, West Michigan Christian got a massive performance out of Peyton Lowell, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Lowell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Harris, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.

West Michigan Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

West Michigan Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy will host Lakeville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so the Dragons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. West Michigan Christian will be paying especially close attention to Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy's game: after Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy faces off against Lakeville, they'll take on West Michigan Christian again at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
